PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:
This is an Informatics Systems Engineer position in the Abbott Diagnostics Informatics division that is responsible for designing and architecting IT infrastructure solutions for laboratory informatics product offerings in ADD; AMD; and APOC. CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Informatics Systems Engineer will play the following roles:

1. In-House Technical Expert: In this role; the Informatics Systems Engineer will be a resource supporting in-house teams working on a variety of projects; including but not limited to:

· Specify and document Informatics product specifications and configurations to meet requirements of new and existing service offerings.
· Research; identify; test; certify; and select IT infrastructure technology products required for Informatics solutions in a medical lab environment.
· Develop; critique; and modify tools to design solution that can integrate well in our customer’s data centers.
· Design in-house IT infrastructure to support customer needs as well as maintain standard installation configurations of customer solutions.
· Work with cross-functional teams to propose; recommend and architect solutions based on requirements and act as consultant to Abbott’s external customers.

2. Technical Service and Support: The Systems Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the field implementation personnel; known as ITSs (Informatics Technical Specialists). The candidate will also play a vital role in problem solving and troubleshooting customer issues and provide level II service and support in resolving informatics product issues. The Systems Engineer will be developing technical recommendations and implementation plans for system architecture in a networked environment. The candidate will serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in platform and network technologies including system availability; security; scalability and load balancing decisions and trade-offs that are the paramount concerns.

3. Sales and Marketing: The Systems Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the commercial teams (Sales and Marketing) by providing advanced technical support during the pre-sales phase as well as acting as a consultant offering technical recommendations to ensure the solution being sold to the customer will fit the needs of the IT infrastructure and architecture.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE:
This position reports to Global Implementation/Support Director for Informatics products and has direct impact on the ability of the organization to meet short and long term profitability and customer satisfaction of three diagnostics divisions - ADD; AMD; and APOC. The candidate will be developing and maintaining processes and infrastructure for scalable and profitable delivery of informatics solutions at Abbott’s external diagnostics customer sites using products and services based on the recent acquisition of STARLiMS.
Basic Qualifications:
Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.
Must Have
Minimum of 8-10 years of formal IT technical experience is required.
Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of general networking, server technologies/ services, workstation/desktop technology, internet protocols, remote connectivity and Microsoft Windows Server (NT/2000/XP/2k3) skills.

Desirable

Devise the strategies & guide all stakeholders to create powerful "one-voice" communications for this large, diverse & progressive global organization

This is a large global organization that serves the community in a variety of ways. Having initiated a number of exciting new ventures to improve the economic prospects and quality of life for its customers, it now needs communications managers to bring it all together.

Using experience gained in a previous multiple level, large scale business you will review the present scenario, develop recommendations in line with the Corporate Plan and advise the CEO and Board on what you consider to be the new strategic communications and marketing priorities.

Drawing on your leadership qualities and proven capabilities in person-to-person and media relationships, you will devise strategies that draw together all the elements from a large, diverse and voluble stakeholder group.

Your overriding aim in all of this is to empower this hugely diverse group to synergy all of its many voices into a recognizable, harmonious one-voice, one-brand style of communication. To achieve this first all-important step, you will need to be a masterful communicator who is at once engaging, charming, customer-centric and very persuasive.

You will of course bring all of the appropriate qualifications, experience and contacts along with compelling evidence of your creativity, flexibility, passion and leadership.An outstanding performance in comparable high-level positions with large, well known organizations will champion your application, with strong social responsibility completing the fit.
